It is their world too

There are scores of charitable organizations for human beings and very few for animals, especially in India and particularly Chennai, my hometown. It was for this reason that the Blue Cross of India was founded – to rescue and care for abandoned animals in the region. In fact, it was one man’s campaign against cruelty to animals that gave birth to this remarkable organization. My respect for Blue Cross and the team that drives it grows exponentially with each visit to their facility in Chennai.

The purpose of this post is not to solicit your money but your time. Even an hour spent with these abandoned animals can be a healing touch for them and therapeutic for you! There are different ways in which you can make a difference. Blue Cross’s website offers details on these different ways: http://www.bluecrossofindia.org/help.html

Perhaps you have spare time during your summer holidays or

you are evaluating options for a CSR program or

you simply know people who like to volunteer time for a social cause.

Whatever it maybe, I encourage you to spread the word about this organization and its requirements. I am sure you already know of them and maybe even called them in times of a stray-neighborhood-canine nuisance. But paying a visit to their facility would help you to understand and appreciate them better. The Blue Cross of India receives little to no help from the government. It is purely run on the contributions made by animal lovers, the time offered by volunteers and an impressive team of staunch animal-rights crusaders, who make a part of this world a better place for our four legged (and winged) friends to live!

If you can’t help with your time, perhaps then you could help the organization monetarily? The website http://www.bluecrossofindia.org/ offers more details.

If you don't have the time or the money to spare, you could pitch in, in a very small way in the coming summer months by joining Blue Cross's Water Bowl Project? More information about it under  http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/chennai/Water-bowl-project-for-animals-to-kick-off-in-Chennai/articleshow/7689212.cms

Thanks and best wishes!
